Automatic Hot Mounting Presses

Following specimen cutting, the subsequent phase involves mounting. The purpose of mounting is twofold: it facilitates the handling of small or irregularly shaped specimens and shields delicate materials, thin layers, or coatings during the preparation process. Additionally, mounting ensures optimal edge retention. This process results in specimens of uniform size, simplifying their management in automatic holders for subsequent preparation stages. In hot mounting, the specimen undergoes mounting under the application of heat and pressure using a specialised hot mounting press.

All ECOPRESS models operate with electrohydraulic precision, eliminating the need for air. The sample ejection is not only swift but also exceptionally smooth. Housed within an ergonomically designed ABS cabinet, all hydraulic components ensure optimal functionality. For added convenience, ECOPRESS 102/202 comes equipped with preprogrammed moulding sequences that are factory-set. Simply place your sample in the mould, select the programme number corresponding to your specific application, and press the "Start" button. ECOPRESS takes care of the rest! The fully automatic programme sequence, initiated by the start key, executes with preselected parameters controlling pressure, heating, and cooling. A complete cool mount is achieved within a mere 7 to 9 minutes. Should the need arise, parameters can be modified and adjusted seamlessly during the mounting process. In addition, ECOPRESS 102/202 offers the capacity to store up to 99 operator-created programmes, enhancing flexibility and customisation. The user-friendly touch screen LCD prominently displays programme data and instructions, ensuring a streamlined and efficient user experience.

The advanced combined heater/cooler unit is situated in the upper section of ECOPRESS, boasting an impressive 1650 W of thermostatically controlled heating power that ensures minimal moulding times. Following the heating cycle, the cooling water is automatically activated and shuts off upon reaching the designated "Cooling Temperature." Engaging the stand-by mode initiates pre-warming, maintaining a consistently ready-to-use temperature and thereby reducing the overall cycle time. Three distinct cooling modes – "Standard," "Slow," and "Based on Time" – cater to various resin types, with slow cooling specifically tailored for thermoplastic resins that benefit from extended cooling periods for optimal mount clarity. An optional stainless steel "Recirculating Cooling Unit" is also available.

ECOPRESS mounting presses accommodate multiple mould sizes ranging from 25 mm to 50 mm, facilitating easy and seamless mould exchanges. The inclusion of an intermediate ram allows for a doubling of production capacity. Operator safety is prioritised with insulated mould closure. Additionally, the optional Chamfered Rams introduce a bevelled face around the specimen's edge, eliminating sharp edges, enhancing the efficiency of the grinding and polishing processes, and saving both time and consumables. This feature also mitigates the risk of mould damage from hard specimens. The user-friendly dovetail connection for the lower ram eliminates the need for mechanical fastening. The robust bayonet mould closure not only maximises safety but also eliminates the necessity to clean cylinder threads before closure, ensuring moulds remain intact and functional for an extended period without the need for replacements due to worn threads.
